A Coastal Summer Oyster Candle DIY
Share
One of my favorite parts of summer is slowing down long enough to notice the little things. A walk along the shore, a pocket full of oyster shells, and the inspiration that comes from bringing a bit of the coast back home.
This summer, I created a simple oyster candle centerpiece using shells I collected locally and candle sand that I had been wanting to try. After seeing my friend Stephanie from Returning Grace use candle sand in her home, I immediately started dreaming up a coastal version that felt right at home in our cottage.

I arranged the oyster shells inside a beautiful oyster-shaped tray made by a local potter that I instantly fell in love with. The organic shape paired perfectly with the collected shells and gave the entire project a relaxed, coastal feel. After filling each shell with candle sand and adding wicks, the result was a centerpiece that felt both elegant and effortless.
What I love most about this DIY is that it turns simple treasures from nature into something useful and beautiful. Whether displayed on a dining table, coffee table, or tucked into a cozy summer gathering, these oyster candles add a warm glow and a personal touch that can't be found in a store.

Living near the coast has taught me that some of the best decorating inspiration comes from what's already around us. A handful of shells, a favorite tray, and a little creativity can become a centerpiece that tells a story.
If you're visiting the beach this summer, keep an eye out for shells on your next walk. You may just find everything you need for your next DIY project. Find all of the supplies I used here friend. Happy DIYing. xo, Krystle
