From Grass & Dreams to Sunset Dinners: Why We Added a Pergola to Our Backyard

From Grass & Dreams to Sunset Dinners: Why We Added a Pergola to Our Backyard

When we moved into our new construction home near the North Carolina coast, our backyard was nothing but grass and possibility. No fence yet. No landscaping. Just a blank space and a dream of creating somewhere our family could truly enjoy spending time together outdoors.

One of the very first things we knew we wanted to add was a pergola.
After researching different options, we decided on our Mirador Outdoor pergola, and honestly, it completely transformed the way we use our backyard. It instantly created an outdoor living space that feels functional, elevated, and cozy all at the same time. PS: You can use code: KRYSTLE5 to save 5% when ordering yours friend.

One of the biggest reasons we chose this pergola was because of the adjustable louvers. We can open them during sunny afternoons to let the light in or close them during summer rainstorms and still sit outside comfortably. Living near the coast, that feature has already become one of our favorites.

We also added two drop down screens, which help cut down on wind, keep bugs away in the evenings, and add privacy while we wait for our fence to be installed. Those little details truly make this space feel like an extension of our home instead of just a pergola sitting in the backyard.

Another thing I love is how durable and high end it feels while still blending beautifully with our collected coastal cottage style. It works just as well styled for quiet coffee mornings as it does for hosting friends and family for dinner outside.
Right now, we have the pergola paired with pavers and raised garden beds, but I already have plans to continue layering this space over time with lighting, greenery, and more cozy touches.

If you have been wanting to create more of an outdoor living space at home, I truly cannot recommend this pergola enough. It turned our “grass & dreams” backyard into one of our favorite places to spend time together. Watch our pergola come to life here, it was a fun transformation. xo,
